Glintwine  was formed in Shenzhen in 2021 by vocalist Didi(Qiudi Zhang) and guitarist Adrien (Xiaobo Pu), both graduated from Yale University.

Didi is a vocalist versatile in many different musical styles. She’s known for her deep and rich alto voice as well as her vocal range. Didi performs songs in the styles of jazz, rock, folk, latin and more with Glintwine and collaborates with both international and local musicians. As a polyglot, Didi sings in up to nine or even 10 languages per show including songs in Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Georgian, Kazakh and more.

 

Before moving back to Shenzhen, Didi traveled extensively across Central Asia and the Caucasus and is familiar with the musical traditions of the regions. She has released music togehter with the polyphonic singing group Geo Folk from Georgia, and will be touring with them across China this coming summer together with her band Glintwine. Apart from the albums she has released with her band, Didi’s also currently working on her solo album which will include renditions of songs from countries along the “Silk Road”.

 

Didi holds an MA in East Asian Studies from Yale and a BA from the University of Washington in Anthropology and Dance. She will be pursuing her PhD in Ethnomusicology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong this coming fall.

Adrien is classical guitarist who has performed in various musical halls across Asia and North America. He graduated from the pretigious Curtis Institute of Music and Yale University's School of Music. He has performed in places such as the Carnegie Hall and the National Theater of China, and was considered to be a “genius guitar player” by the grammy award winning guitarist Jason Vieaux.

 

As a solo artist and classical musician, Adrien often collaborates with accordinists, celloists and other instrumentalists on classical repretoire. Together with his band Glintwine, he explores more versatile styles and techniques including jazz, latin, and rock music and often performs on electric guitar at live shows as well. He’s also currently recording his solo studio album.

 

Adrien currently holds a teaching position at the Hong Kong Baptist University campus in Zhuhai (UIC).

In 2022, the band signed with Beijing Universal Records and released their debut album, "Sip On That Glintwine" in Septebmer. The album includes 12 tracks of chansons, latin music, and jazz standars.

 

In October 2023, Glintwine's EP album, "彼岸" (The Other Shore) with all original Chinese songs was released on major music platforms globally.

 

The band has also embarked on the "Enchanted Journey" national concert tour, covering cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Xiamen since fall 2023. They will resume their tour in 2024 in more cities such as Guangzhou, Wuhan, and Zhuhai.

 

In 2024, the band will release its new album which will include live versions of songs from their current tour as well as studio versions of unreleased songs. The album will also be available on vinyl and is scheduled to be available in May 2024.
